Credit Checks are completed for security purposes, the credit report can be used to verify someone’s identity, background, and education, to prevent theft or embezzlement, and to see the candidate’s previous employers (especially if there is missing employment experience on a resume). For employers, it is a big-picture snapshot of how potential candidate handles their responsibilities.
CareChamp is aware that a lot of people in South Africa have credit and use credit to operate. So don't worry about that.
What do we focus on when we go through your report:
-Do you have an open judgment against you? Which is basically a legal case filed due to defaulting on credit. Any legal cases are obviously red flags. You can have a judgment against your name removed - by settling your debt.
When Are Credit Checks Done:
Credit Checks are done yearly as part of compliance and we will send you your documents upon completion which of course you can use for any other purpose as well.
Does an employer credit check hurt your score?
Businesses may get an employer credit report from one of the three major credit reporting bureaus — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — or may use a specialty screening company.
The credit check counts as a "soft inquiry" on your credit, so it won’t take points off your credit score, the way a credit card application might.
The credit reports also won’t show other soft inquiries on your credit, so potential employers won’t be able to see if other employers have checked on you. But you will be able to see the soft inquiries if you request your own credit report.
